The key work and overall look of the horn is reminiscent of the Selmer Super Action 80 Series II. 007This is without a doubt , in all respects, the very best baritone available in its price range. It has the same bore and interior dimensions as the deluxe Yanagisawa BW010 baritone . The major difference is the absence of post/rib construction and the full array of double control arms on the bell keys that Yanagisawa includes with the deluxe 010 model. It does include double control arms on the low C. . Baritones are large scale instruments and require excellent materials, tooling and construction to hold up well. Yanagisawa gives you all this in the BW01 at a reasonable price, along with an excellent scale and great sonic quality, and an extremely comfortable key board layout. We stopped handling certain other companies closely priced baritones when this instrument came out because none of them came close to Yanagisawa's quality and durability. It is unquestionable a Best Buy for someone seeking a professional quality horn for a lifetime at a price that hasn't soared into the stratosphere.

The scale is great and the sound is full and rich, along with a particular bright edge, which is precisely what serious players are looking for. On Soprano , alto , or tenor many players are seeking a "dark" sound. On Baritone , "dark" translates into "dull", and dull is the kiss of death on Baritone. Soloing on a "dark" baritone is a players nightmare. It just won't carry, or cut through a section. The construction on this baritone is second to none with it's double control arms on the low larger key cups starting from low-C down. Having two braces controlling the low A is a absolute blessing in terms of maintaining pad coverage and reliability and confidence in coverage. On a large size instrument this extra bit of engineering is nothing short of brilliant, and should save many a trip to the repairman. RELIABILITY! 007Made from the solid Bronze alloy (higher copper content) to produce a slightly warmer and richer tone, we think of the BW02 as an enhanced version of the BW01. The sound quality is maximized, but with the savings of the "no frills" post construction. When compared to rib construction, posts that are soldered to the horn on an individual basis use less surface area of soldering resulting in an intensified and enriched vibration.

007We have now moved out of the "Dark Age" with this horn. With it's sterling silver neck and body tube, this axe truly has the edge to cut through in any playing situation. Up until now, it has only been a rumor that this model bari existed. But, it is not just a myth. Playing it is a truly joyful experience. If you're taking the lead it projects like no other and at ppp it's sweet personality comes through. Double control arms add stability to the large low end key cups and three different lengths of floor pegs, that screw into the bottom bow, are included for use when playing in a seated position. Engraving on the bell adds to the elegance of this unique instrument. A case, mouthpiece and strap are included.
